I had a dream
Within a dream,
That I’d dreamed
The dreams
I’d never seen.
Of clouds and
hills
And mountains
tall,
Swathed in trees
And waterfalls.
The leaves were
pink
And made of silk
And all the
streams
Brimmed with
milk.
There were
coloured skies
In pastel
shades,
Ice cream peaks,
And strawberry
glades.
Deer that slid
On empty air,
A fox that
Hugged a scary
hare.
There were
badgers dressed
In suits of
green
And mice that
Ran away from
cheese.
Lakes that
Broke the sun
apart
And threw it
back at night
As stars.
And as the dawn
The moon became
An apple pie.
Clouds of white
Rained as cream
On peachy stones
Then turned to
steam.
And the steam
became
A butterfly
That fluttered
on a
Breeze of
smiles.
A sweeter dream
there’d never been
Within that
dream I’d never seen.
